Masterclass: Industry 4.0 in food

Unlock the true potential of Industry 4.0

Companies are investing heavily in Industry 4.0 technologies (such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data), expecting transformative results. However, many often experience only slow and gradual improvements and a limited return on investment. In the past three years, we have conducted a research project in collaboration with the University of Antwerp to analyse how companies can get higher returns on their investments in innovative technologies. 


By studying companies that are successfully implementing Industry 4.0, we have identified ten strategic transformations. Furthermore, we have identified three main barriers that are holding companies back in realizing these transformations:  

  • A lack of knowledge  

  • A lack of strategy & roadmap  

  • A lack of organizational transformation 

During this two-day masterclass you will learn all about the ten transformations and how to overcome these barriers. After this masterclass, you will have all ingredients to shape your Industry 4.0 strategy and roadmap.

Each training day starts at 8:30 and ends at 17:00

Day 1: 

MODULE 1: Industry 4.0 strategy 

  • Demystifying Industry 4.0: Is the fourth (or fifth) industrial revolution here?
  • Explore the disruptive impact of Industry 4.0 technologies (IoT, big data analytics, AI, AR and VR) on food supply chains, operations and business models. 
  • Ten paradigm shifts to consider in your Industry 4.0 transformation.  
  • Give your 4.0 transformation strategic direction: how to make choices and bring focus?  

From 18:00 to 20:00, a dinner is offered by delaware.  

Day 2:  

 MODULE 2: Organizing for Industry 4.0  

  • Explore the organizational dimensions of Industry 4.0: what is the impact on your leadership, organizational structure and culture, processes, people and ecosystem?   

  • Learn more about change management success factors in the context of Industry 4.0. 

MODULE 3: Industry 4.0 Roadmapping  

  • Learn how to translate your strategy into a multi-horizon Industry 4.0 roadmap and how to select and prioritize your projects.   

  • Learn how to establish design principles and a future-proof Industry 4.0 architecture to support your roadmap 

MODULE 4: Industry 4.0 Governance  

  • Find out what governance is needed to implement your Industry 4.0 roadmap.  

  • Learn how to measure ROI and track the value generation of your Industry 4.0 program.
