Nutri-Score is a food choice logo designed for food products, aiming to encourage consumers to make healthier choices within product groups. It utilizes a traffic light system with five levels, where A represents the preferred choice and E indicates a choice to avoid.
The logo provides a score for the product using colors and letters. Independent scientists developed this system, wherein products earn points for protein, fiber, fruits, vegetables, and nuts, while losing points for energy content (kcal), sugars, saturated fat, and salt.
Based on the total score, products are assigned an A, B, C, D, or E rating, with a dark green A representing the healthiest composition and a dark orange E indicating the least healthy option.
The Nutri-Score calculation is fully integrated into the SAP Recipe Development module, enabling real-time assessment. This integration allows product developers to gain insights into a product's expected Nutri-Score and observe the impact of any changes on the score.
Nutri-Score is recommended by the governments of Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, and Spain. In Portugal, Switzerland, Slovenia, and Austria, companies can voluntarily adopt it.
