We are hiring for Summer 2026 internships.

We live in a time where data is no longer just processed in the cloud, it’s alive on the factory floor, embedded in machines, and driving real-time decisions. And increasingly, AI is part of that picture too: not only running in some distant data centre, but right next to the machine that needs it. Edge technology is at the heart of this transformation, bringing intelligence closer to where it matters most.

As an Edge Technology Intern at delaware, you’ll get to work on the real challenges that our manufacturing clients face. You’ll contribute to tangible solutions, building prototypes, testing integrations, and developing reusable tools with the intention that they actually end up on clients shopfloors. It’s hands-on work with real stakes, supported by a team that genuinely enjoys what they do.

What will you be doing?

No two days are the same, but here’s a taste of what you can expect:

  • Getting hands-on with real OT/IT setups, tracing how data flows from a machine on the shop floor all the way to a dashboard a manager uses to make decisions.
  • Helping configure and test edge components like data gateways, sensors, and connectivity tools.
  • Exploring how AI and machine learning get applied directly on the shop floor, from anomaly detection to predictive maintenance and what it takes to make that work in practice.
  • Joining internal team discussions where technical challenges get translated into practical client solutions and learning how that thinking works.
  • Tinkering with technologies like IoT, data streaming, and industrial protocols (MQTT, OPC UA) in realistic and demo environments.
  • Contributing to architecture and design discussions, your fresh perspective is genuinely welcome.
  • Picking up tools and platforms used in the industry, with teammates who are happy to explain the ‘why’ behind every choice.

Who are we?

You'll join our Edge Technology team, a dedicated team within delaware who specialise in bridging the gap between IT and operational technology (OT). We work with manufacturing companies who want to get more out of their shop floor data: making sense of it, acting on it in real time, applying AI where it adds value, and building the digital infrastructure to sustain it.

Think of us as translators: we speak both the language of factory engineers and software architects, and we help clients bridge that gap. As an intern, you’ll be part of this dynamic environment where learning, innovation, and collaboration are key. You’ll gain hands-on experience while being supported by experienced professionals.

If you're a practical problem-solver who forms opinions, challenges assumptions, and feels at home learning something new, you'll fit right in:

  • You’re studying IT, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • You have hands-on experience with at least one programming language, .NET/C#, Python, JavaScript, or similar and you’re comfortable picking up new ones.
  • You’ve worked with or explored frontend frameworks like React, or you’re curious to do so.
  • You’ve heard of things like IoT, edge computing, or industrial automation and want to dig deeper.
  • You’re excited by what AI can do and curious how it gets applied in the real world, not just in theory.
  • You’re curious about how technology works in practice such as Node-RED, MQTT, OPC UA, Grafana, Docker, or similar.
  • You like working with people and eager to learn and take initiative.
  • You can communicate in English (Dutch or French is a bonus).

“As an integration consultant, one of my favorite projects was working with a hospital to integrate their HR systems. This was a complex task, as it involved bringing together various systems and processes to improve the hospital’s HR operations. It was my first project, and I didn’t realize how many systems were actually involved. First, you have the employee management software and the payroll provider. However, employees also need to expense things if they buy something for work, so there was another tool for that. The recruitment team sometimes wants to get a candidate take a cognitive test, so there was another tool for that. Not every employee has access to every room or building, so access management needed to be integrated too. There was another tool for that. You get the gist, right? Getting all these systems to work together in a structured and maintainable way was a huge challenge.” — Rob

Junior Web Developer

“On my current project, I am developing a B2B e-commerce website, using Kentico CMS. This platform allows the client to customize the content they want to display, analyze user behavior, and trigger marketing campaigns, etc. The client wanted to be able to create and manage the delivery modes themselves, and I was in charge of retrieving the new delivery methods that the company had registered and that were stored in the SQL Server database. I developed the data retrieval part in .NET, and for the display on the e-commerce site, I used the React library.
