“Since starting at delaware, I’ve been working on a project at Fluvius to develop and maintain various applications. During the development phase, our team mainly focuses on the quality of the code; readability is paramount. The applications we currently develop consist of an Angular front end and a .NET API. In the front end, the focus isn’t only on web applications but also on hybrid apps and PWAs. This is a challenge because you have to keep the look and feel of the different platforms in mind. What I like most about the job is the impact you have on the client — the apps and functionalities I develop support the technicians at Fluvius in their daily work.” — Marbod Naassens 

As a Junior Mobile Developer, you’ll take on the role of technical consultant, meaning that you’ll be supporting our projects from start to finish, from analysis to implementation and support. Your focus will be on mobile development, which will feel like coming home thanks to your deep knowledge of IT.  

But there’s more: the consultancy element means that you’ll collaborate closely with our customers. You’ll learn to understand their needs and come up with customized technological solutions that work for their business.

What team will you be part of?

Our Mobile, Web & IoT team specializes in creating tailor-made solutions for our clients. This way, they don’t need multiple applications to run their business processes and tasks. Our solutions range from mobile and web applications to XR (AR/VR) and IoT solutions. From a technical point of view, we use .NET (Core), JavaScript (Angular, React), Unity, etc. Innovation is key, so we regularly test out new technologies too. 

We work where we work best, when we work best. delaware has its offices in Antwerp, Ghent, Kortrijk, Liège, Lummen, and Wavre, but as a consultant, you’ll sometimes find yourself on-site with our customers as well. We offer flexible hours, and we’ll find the perfect balance together.

This was a complex task, as it involved bringing together various systems and processes to improve the hospital’s HR operations. It was my first project, and I didn’t realize how many systems were actually involved. First, you have the employee management software and the payroll provider. However, employees also need to expense things if they buy something for work, so there was another tool for that. The recruitment team sometimes wants to get a candidate take a cognitive test, so there was another tool for that. Not every employee has access to every room or building, so access management needed to be integrated too. There was another tool for that. You get the gist, right? Getting all these systems to work together in a structured and maintainable way was a huge challenge.” — Rob Hofman

“As a member of the Low Code & Automation team, I focus on building low-code applications on the Mendix platform. My current project is with TUC RAIL, an engineering firm. Every day they supervise the construction of train tracks, and they’re legally obliged to keep a record of each shift. They used to do this via Excel and printed documents — a time-consuming process. Now, via the app I created, TUC RAIL and their subcontractors can input all data digitally. Then an automatic approval flow is activated, sending the data to the right people in the company. In addition, the contractors can even log on-site issues and receive solutions from their off-site colleagues. “On my current project, I am developing a B2B e-commerce website, using Kentico CMS. This platform allows the client to customize the content they want to display, analyze user behavior, and trigger marketing campaigns, etc. The client wanted to be able to create and manage the delivery modes themselves, and I was in charge of retrieving the new delivery methods that the company had registered and that were stored in the SQL Server database. I developed the data retrieval part in .NET, and for the display on the e-commerce site, I used the React library. I was in contact with the customer’s IT department throughout to make sure that the final result was exactly what they wanted.” — Yassine Layachi
