CRO - Head of Risk and Compliance

You’ll be delaware’s first Chief Risk Officer / Head of Risk & Compliance. That means you’ll be shaping a new function from the ground up—one that’s pragmatic, collaborative, and genuinely useful to the business.

Here’s what your role will look like:

• Build a group-wide Enterprise Risk & Compliance framework that adds value, not paperwork.
• Establish governance and accountability across key areas like enterprise risk, regulatory compliance, and emerging regulations (think NIS2, AI Act, GDPR).
• Clarify and evolve our 1st/2nd line model, working closely with the CISO, Legal, and local Data Protection Officers.
• Support the Management Committee and Board with clear, forward-looking insights that help them make risk-informed decisions.
• Advise on risk appetite and control maturity, especially in major initiatives and strategic projects.
• Coordinate group policies and frameworks, making sure countries benefit from shared standards without losing local relevance.
• Deliver real value—showing that risk and compliance can be practical, enabling, and business-friendly.
• Act as a connector and coach, helping teams integrate risk thinking into everyday decisions (no checklists required).

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit in an ivory tower. You’ll be working closely with country leadership, building trust, and making sure risk management is a shared responsibility—not a top-down mandate.

If you’re nodding along so far, here’s what we’re looking for:

• Around 10 years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, or Governance — ideally with a background in advisory or Big 4 environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of international regulations and frameworks, including ISO 31000, COSO, NIS2, GDPR, AI Act, and ISO 42001.
• A strong grasp of professional services operations, and the ability to connect the dots between business, IT, and finance.
• An entrepreneurial mindset — you’re comfortable creating structure from scratch, influencing without formal authority, and adapting quickly.
• Excellent communication skills in English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Based in EMEA, with flexibility for occasional travel to key countries.
• A collaborative approach — you build trust, listen well, and bring people along with you.
