When Medivet, a network of 450 veterinary clinics across Europe, needed one reliable source for all business data and reporting, they turned to delaware. By building a single Enterprise Data Warehouse and Microsoft Power BI environment, delaware unified KPIs across Finance, Operations, Marketing, and IT. As a result, Medivet now empowers teams with trusted data and insights, enables data-driven decisions across the organization, and saves more than 1 million euros annually.

Challenge

Data reporting across Medivet used to be highly fragmented. Multiple KPI definitions and conflicting data sources meant teams often spent more time debating figures and comparing spreadsheets than acting on insights. As a result, much of the data’s potential was left untapped. One particularly costly pain point was a set of legacy reports with an annual price tag of 1.2 million euros, which was not accessible to end users and, therefore, rarely used.

Another challenge was the ageing in-house Patient Management System. Built two decades earlier, it contained a complex structure that required industry expertise to interpret – an area where delaware’s guidance was particularly valuable.

The project’s goals were clear: establish a single version of the truth and a controlled set of dashboards. Additionally, Medivet wanted to equip end users – especially veterinary clinics – with powerful dashboards to drive performance, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Solution

delaware helped Medivet implement a single Enterprise Data Warehouse and Microsoft Power BI reporting system. That created a unified ‘single version of the truth’ across the business, including one consistent, organization-wide set of KPIs.

In that way, the solution combined technical innovation with strong stakeholder engagement, and laid a solid foundation for data-driven decision-making.

  • One data source: a central data platform, built with Microsoft Azure tools, to replace fragmented systems and a costly legacy solution.
  • Standardized KPIs: close collaboration with the Finance, Operations, Marketing, and IT teams aligned everyone on the same set of KPIs.
I’ve been in IT for over 25 years, and this partnership was one of the best I’ve experienced. delaware pride themselves on building long-term relationships. They’re pragmatic, focused on achieving the best outcome, and ensure both parties win.

What did
we do?

Assess & align

delaware assessed Medivet’s existing IT landscape, including the in-house Patient Management System, to understand complexities and potential risks. KPI definitions were agreed upon before building data models, ensuring all departments were aligned from the start.

Build & implement

delaware implemented a solution while preserving existing knowledge. We built an Enterprise Data Warehouse and Power BI dashboards on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Medivet’s technical and business expertise for a smooth transition.

Enable & expand

Tailored trainings for different user groups promoted adoption, ensured stakeholder buy-in, and guaranteed smooth operations post-launch.

The project was first launched in the UK, then expanded to Germany, France, and Spain.

Results

The new system delivered clarity, consistency, and trust in Medivet’s data. With one central source of truth, everyone now knows where to find accurate data. KPI disputes ended, and teams focus on what matters most: improving performance and client satisfaction. Furthermore, replacing a set of third-party legacy reports saved 1.2 million euros annually, and increased accessibility to the insights they delivered.

User adoption was exceptional. It spanned clinics, regional teams, and even individual pet owners, making the organization more data-savvy than ever. Crucially, clinics gained the ability to take action on their own data, drill down into metrics like client numbers and revenue, and identify which areas needed extra attention.

Adoption was, in fact, so high that system capacity had to be expanded – demonstrating how data had become a powerful everyday tool across the organization. Thanks to the scalability of the Microsoft Azure platform, Medivet could seamlessly scale up to handle the increased demand.

Medivet & delaware

Medivet’s collaboration with delaware was built on trust, pragmatism, and the shared goal of long-term success. Instead of falling into a transactional supplier relationship, both sides worked together to solve problems and focus on shared goals.

The partnership beautifully blended delaware’s mastery of Microsoft technologies and Medivet’s veterinary and business expertise. Cross-department collaboration made sure that literally everyone benefited from the project’s success.
