The world's biggest dredging companies are Belgian, thanks to their high level of quality and safety and their continuous search for innovation. That is also demonstrated by dredging and offshore company Deme, with its fleet of over 100 modern vessels and its continuous innovation through new technologies. Their vessels are like digital factories: very innovative, where lots of data are gathered. To collect all the vessel data, Deme uses a digital platform that was developed together with delaware.

To stay competitive and to continuously offer the best possible solutions to clients, Deme continually invests in new vessels and new technologies. In recent years, they have invested a lot in the digitalization of many processes, as well as in tools to improve collaboration between their employees. The result of the collaboration with delaware, is a hybrid platform that can be used locally on board of the vessel. Other departments within Deme also use digital tools to work efficiently. That enabled them to continue to provide good service to their clients during the COVID crisis.

Deme focuses on four key areas:

  1. the automation of vessels;
  2. a digital workplace for employees;
  3. the further standardization and digitalization of processes, as part of their focus on operational excellence using Microsoft Dynamics;
  4. and the further centralization of their data platforms to allow advanced data analytics.

During the pandemic, the platform turned out to be a corner stone to ensure that Deme employees could communicate, collaborate and keep in touch during the lockdown. The collaboration between Deme and delaware has grown into a structural partnership that is in constant search of new opportunities.

“delaware supported our pragmatic approach for the implementation of new technologies. The combination Microsoft, delaware and Deme works great to stimulate innovation, not for the sake of innovation, but to create value in our business processes”, concludes Kenneth De Feyter from Deme.
