Application
SAP S/4 HANA is ACID compliant. ACID ensures that each database transaction is completed on time. ACID is comprised of four components, namely: atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability.
Atomicity — refers to the integrity of the entire database transaction. If one part of the transaction doesn’t work as planned, the result is a negative domino effect.
Consistency — means that the data should follow rules within the database. Transactions that occur with data results that don’t fall in line with database rules will automatically roll back to the previous state which is compliant to the programmed rules.
Isolation — is the ability to process multiple transactions without affecting others. If you’re purchasing an item online, isolation ensures that your transaction is separate. If you complete a transaction ahead of someone, your transaction will be completed first. This ensures that the data used and produced is always accurate.
Durability — means that if a transaction is completed, that data is saved. Power outages and system failures are not a problem if your platform is ACID compliant. Databases that lack durability often result in a failure incident for your transaction.
