The SAP Developer Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom solutions within SAP environments using ABAP, RAP (RESTful Application Programming), and Fiori technologies. This role involves working closely with functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable applications that enhance business processes. Senior and Lead positions include additional responsibilities for solution architecture, code reviews, and mentoring junior developers.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Application Development

    • Design and develop custom applications using ABAP and RAP frameworks.
    • Build and enhance Fiori apps for intuitive user experiences.
    • Implement OData services and integrate with SAP UI5 applications.
  • System Integration

    • Ensure seamless integration of custom developments with SAP S/4HANA and other modules.
    • Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Performance Optimization

    • Optimize code for performance and maintainability.
    • Conduct debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Quality Assurance

    • Perform unit testing and support integration testing.
    • Maintain proper documentation for developments and technical specifications.
  • Leadership (Senior/Lead Level)

    • Review code and enforce development standards.
    • Mentor junior developers and guide technical design decisions.
    • Contribute to solution architecture and strategic development planning.

Qualifications

  • Education

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience

    • Minimum of 3–5 years (Consultant), 6–8 years (Senior), or 10+ years (Lead) in SAP development.
    • Proven expertise in ABAP programming and RAP framework.
    • Experience in developing SAP Fiori/UI5 applications and OData services.
    • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA development environment.
  • Skills

    • Strong understanding of SAP development lifecycle and best practices.
    • Proficiency in debugging, performance tuning, and code optimization.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Certifications

    • SAP ABAP or SAP Fiori/UI5 certification preferred.
