Organisations operating within the EU have less than a year to prepare for the new legal requirements under the Pay Transparency Directive (Directive (EU) 2023/970).
This legislation aims to strengthen equal pay for equal work between genders and enforce overall pay transparency. The compliance hard deadline is 7 June 2026.
The Pay Transparency Directive applies directly to all employers operating within EU member states, including Ireland. Therefore, Irish businesses must ensure their pay structures, reporting practices, and HR systems comply with the new requirements before June 2026.
For UK businesses with Irish legal entities or operations within Ireland, the directive will also apply to those entities. This means UK-based organisations with Irish subsidiaries, branches, or employees in Ireland will need to implement compliance measures locally.
