A greenfield S/4HANA implementation is a rare opportunity to get analytics right from the start. Most organizations miss it. Avista didn't. When Avista, a regulated multi-state utility serving customers across Washington, Idaho, and Oregon, embarked on a greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation, the analytics and reporting challenge was clear from the start. The program vision is to provide every Avista user with trusted, timely, and intuitive access to the data they need, embedded in their daily workflows, and to establish a unified governance and operating model that honors existing policies, closes emerging gaps, and scales with the transformation ahead. 


This session tells the story of how Avista and its implementation partner delaware made a foundational architectural decision early in the project: to pair SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) with Databricks as the cornerstone of their enterprise analytics strategy, not as a bolt-on afterthought, but as a first-class design principle embedded in the S/4HANA program from day one.
