Milcobel transforms 1.8 billion liters of milk every year into cheese, milk, milk powder and ice-cream. The company has been working together with us since 2018, when they made the decision to move to SAP S/4HANA.

Milcobel had a clear vision on the Intelligent Enterprise, based on a greenfield implementation of SAP S/4HANA, with no modifications to the S/4 core in the first part of 2018. By decoupling custom code from the digital S/4 core – ‘keeping the core clean’ – companies are able to adopt innovations in newer SAP releases quicker and easier.

By Q3 2018, Milcobel needed an extension to the standard functionalities, allowing their supply chain department to find the perfect match between customer demand and the availability of alternative products, based on customer specific quality requirements. To achieve this, they needed a cock-pit view of their demand and supply.

Extension to the rule

As an SAP reseller, we proposed a solution extension to Milcobel, in this case Mendix RAD, an ideal development platform to support the keep-the-core-clean philosophy.

Completed in Q2 2019, this investment in Mendix enabled Milcobel to fulfil its own customer goal of providing advanced ‘available to promise’ capabilities.

We are now working with Milcobel on further investments in Mendix that will enable the dairy company to schedule and trace the subsequent silos in which milk powder is being prepared for bulk transport. In parallel, the milk collection and settlement to farmers will be shaped in the same Mendix tool.
