Is our new generation a mobile generation?

okt. 21, 2015

We live in a mobile era and our new junior colleagues are amongst the first generation that will carry the human knowledge and the potential of a billion scientists in their pockets. It’s predicted that, this year alone, mobile devices will overtake desktop usage. Still, it’s up to the users to unlock that potential.

In the past month we conducted in-depth interviews with every one of them. This is how we try to find out the answers to the questions: “Who are you? ”, “What is your passion? ”, “What motivates you?”. We also asked them: “What’s your favorite (mobile) app?”. This resulted in some interesting insights we would like to share with you.

We are happy to introduce you the new generation of Delaware Consulting!

1. Sandro

Hello, dear blog readers! My name is Sandro and I’m a freshly graduated bachelor in applied informatics at Hogeschool Gent. I specialized in mobile application development (iOS and Android) so my interests go to mobile and web development. In my spare time I like to jog to keep in shape, play soccer at the local ‘café soccer team FC De Zandvlooi’ and I recently rented a house so I spend a lot of time looking and buying furniture and decorations for my house.

My favorite app is without any doubt ‘Dropbox’! No more messing around with USBs and living with the fear that you lost one (and your data too). When I want to have certain files on multiple devices, I just put it on Dropbox and the problem is solved.

2. Glenn

My name is Glenn and I joined the MS CRM team. I currently live in Egem, a small village between Kortrijk and Bruges. I studied business administration at the University of Ghent. Besides my commitment to Delaware Consulting, I am passionate about sports and movement techniques and rehabilitation, swimming and the harsh Russian language.

My favorite app is the mobile application of ‘’: while driving I like to listen to audiobooks in English, for me it adds a lot of value to the ride.

3. Maarten

My name is Maarten. I studied computer science engineering (with a specialization in embedded systems) and business economics in Ghent. After two internships at Delaware Consulting in the Digital and BI teams, I joined the BI team as a junior this year. Next to technology I like to scuba dive, travel all around the world and spend a lot of time listening to music and deejaying.

When it comes down to apps, I cannot live without ‘Wunderlist’. It is a to-do list app that synchronizes across devices. I tend to be involved in a lot of things at the same time. With Wunderlist I can easily keep an eye on upcoming to-dos and add one via my smartphone or laptop whenever something crosses my mind.

4. Ismaïl

My name is Ismail and I live in the capital of Belgium (Brussels for those who failed geography class). I earned a master’s degree in business administration at ICHEC Brussels Management School. I’m a new member of the SAP Service Logistics team. I like to spend my free time with family and friends.

My favorite app is ‘Minion Rush’: a mobile action video game in the Despicable Me franchise. My 5-year- old nephew showed it to me and learned me how to play (which isn’t that harsh though). His high scores are way better than mine so I need to practice more

5. Ken

Hi everybody, my name is Ken. I’m 24 years old and I graduated in commercial sciences at the KU Leuven. I recently joined the SAP BI team as a functional business analyst, considering my strong interest in information management. My hobbies include long-distance running, making music either individually or in an orchestra, and martial arts.

My favorite app is definitely ‘Is it August?’ (for Android): This app tells you whether or not it is August. Each and every day I used to wonder if it’s August, but thanks to this life-changing app I am able to check if I’m in August. There’s even an extra functionality that tells you when it’s not August. I simply can’t imagine life before this app came out.

6. Gilles

Hello! My name is Gilles and I just started my career at Delaware Consulting. In June 2015, I graduated as a business engineer at Ghent University. With my background in economics and interest in finance and IT, I’m looking forward to joining the SAP Financials team.

I don’t have a specific favorite app, but after waking up in the morning, I like to read the news on my smartphone to start the day. This keeps me up-to-date with the news facts in the world and it can generate funny conversations at the morning coffee!

7. Charlotte

Hello, I am Charlotte and I live in Oostnieuwkerke. I am 23 years old and for the first time experiencing the real work life. Since August 31 I work at Delaware Consulting in the OpenText team. I have a degree in business & IT and a master’s degree in information management. When fall comes you can always find me in front of the TV or outdoors watching cyclocross.

My favorite app is ‘Instagram’. I just love to watch pictures, a picture can say so much more than words can. A course that definitely is on my to-do list is photography. With every occasion I try to take pictures because you will not remember everything and pictures last a lifetime. They will bring you joy for the rest of your life.

8. Tara

Hello! I’m Tara and I’m a member of the SAP Fast Manufacturing team. I live in Gits and I’m 23 years old. I studied business engineering at the University of Ghent. I’m not that sporty, but I do love to ski and to play golf. And since I started working at Delaware Consulting, I go to the gym (I try to at least 😉 ) I also enjoy reading and watching movies with friends.

One of the most useful apps I know is ‘Splitwise’. It’s an app that helps you keep track of all your expenses when you’re for example on holiday with friends and it automatically calculates how much money you owe to everyone. If you ever travel with friends, you definitely have to use Splitwise!

Are you a mobile native? What’s your favorite app?
